SERVICES

Ensuring Data Quality in Vector Control

Protecting public health from vector-borne diseases requires a comprehensive tool-box of safe and effective vector surveillance and control products; and developing, testing, or using these tools effectively requires rigorous data quality systems.

If you develop or evaluate vector control products, we can help you guarantee the quality of your data with globally recognized Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) data quality management systems and archives. If you submit products for WHO prequalification or national registration, we can help prepare effective studies and dossiers. If you conduct or oversee vector control operations, we can help with environmental and health impact assessments and regulatory compliance.

World Health organization - good lab practices training

Since 2016 I have been a Consultant and Special Advisor to the World Health Organization, training their vector control collaborating centers in Good Laboratory Practices for product efficacy testing. I have trained national government and university staff from Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and North America in OECD and USEPA GLP compliance requirements, including the latest updated requirements for Computerized System Validation and Test Item Characterization. I have worked with national compliance authorities from around the world, and many of our client labs are now globally recognized for their abilities to generate the highest quality efficacy data.

regulatory support for vector control products

Vector control products must be registered with national authorities before sale, and VCC has a strong track record in supporting registration of new and existing products around the globe, with a focus on ensuring the safety and effectiveness of products with critical roles in protecting public health. For example, we generated the study methods and data on droplet characteristics and deposition to allow an all-crop tolerance for a new mosquito adulticide, which allows use and potential drift over all agricultural commodities without significant risk. We also developed the data packet for the successful urgent US registration of a aircraft disinsection product which allowed the US military to continue flying to all international sites during the Zika virus outbreak.

regulatory compliance for mosquito/vector control programs

Programs to control mosquitoes and other vectors must comply with a variety of laws and regulations, including measures to protect public health from pesticides and to protect the environment from all activities. Vector Control Consultants has worked with operational mosquito control programs and associations to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international standards. We have developed programmatic and focused environmental impact reviews for mosquito control districts, obtained permits for wetland habitat modification and pesticide residues in public waters, and designed the mosquito data module of a large-scale Wetlands Regional Monitoring Program.
